This comes as some surprise, because while Timberlake has been busy on screen, Mosley has spent the 00s making dreadful showreel compilations to lure rock bands into his ambit. MrAverage. - In one showpiece, JT chants over brass, percussion and strings; the music takes a world’s worth of sounds: Afrobeat, soca, bhangra, “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.” The song is called “Let the Groove Get In.” It would have been an apt album title. He's high off of love on "Pusher Love Girl", he's enjoying a five-star reception with his head-turning date on "Suit & Tie", he's exploring the cosmos in a two-person vehicle on "Spaceship Coupe", where he sings, "Everybody's looking for the flyest thing to say/ But I just wanna fly away with you." There are other period touches: When guitarist Elliott Ives steps forward for a rippling solo in “Spaceship Coupe,” it sounds as if Eddie Hazel, the great Parliament-Funkadelic axman, has piloted his mothership into Timberlake’s orbit.
Nevertheless, there are problems. THE BAD: I am a little disappointed in the whole album. Timberlake is a young man recently married, and he's entitled to celebrate that any way he chooses, although you do wonder if the lady wouldn't prefer, say, a bunch of flowers to a song, broadcast to millions, comparing her vagina to a piece of Hubba-Bubba. @kittyempire666 Sat 16 Mar 2013 20.05 EDT First … "Well, how'd you like it?" Album Rating: 2.6Of course. The songwriting isn't bad – Timberlake can really write a chorus – but nor is it good enough to warrant the sheer length of the songs: the shortest track on the album lasts five minutes, while two tip over the eight-minute mark. Photograph: Rex Features. Wouldn't a dane cook or carlos mencia work much better since they are at least in the same vain of comedy as Louis where Hedburg was so different (It would be like comparing 20/20 experience to black flag's first three years). Timberlake sings, “If my red eyes don’t see you anymore/And I can’t hear you through the white noise/Just send your heartbeat out there to the blue ocean floor.” If you had to categorize it, you’d call it an abstract ambient soul ballad.
Consider 'N Sync's 2001 hit "Pop", a defensive track co-written by Justin Timberlake that takes aim at boy-band haters. More than any other, that track-- which sounds as odd and gothic and heady today as it did in 2002-- made way for his current role as first-class pop vanguard.
The poptimists who rode Timberlake's wave to post-guilty-pleasure virtuousness may decry its lack of three-and-a-half minute hits; old-schoolers may dismiss its simplistic themes.
King. He graduated from the Mickey Mouse Club to ‘NSync to solo superstardom – a natural enough progression – but then, at the height of his success, he spit the bit, jettisoning music to dabble in movies, SNL viral videos and, um, golf. Finden Sie hilfreiche Kundenrezensionen und Rezensionsbewertungen für The 20/20 Experience (Deluxe Version) - 1 of 2 auf Amazon.de. Once again, Timberlake’s hubris is hardly reined in by collaborator Timbaland, who, at this reflexive point in his career, is a perfect match for the singer’s exhausting accrual of achievement as its own artistic goal. But there's nothing reverential or retro about its approach: it maroons these sounds amid a mass of disconnected, echoing samples – snatches of piano, distorted voices, buzzing electronics – and unexpected beats. Which is a pleasing experience with the way the music industry currently is with it's Justin Bieber's and One Directions. 20/20 has Timbaland, along with protege Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon, returning to the sounds that flipped so many ears at the beginning of this century: the Bhaṅgṛā rhythms that drive "Don't Hold the Wall", the squealing vocal samples of "Spaceship Coupe", the sinister synths of "Tunnel Vision".
Happy marriages, as a rule, do not sell records. Timbaland uses a lot of the same samples we have heard before.
Any disappointment on The 20/20 Experience is on complete display—written in neon colors—on its sequel, 2 of 2.
No matter what you might want to do to Timberlake – mother him? As a star who grew up in the money-printing CD era, he's got enough notoriety and loyalty to be able to challenge his audience without alienating them.
Timberlake's half-rapped list of intoxicants is rather tempting: from plum wine to nicotine via "hydroponic candy jelly beans". Justin Timberlake is respected, and he's using that cred to make an eight-minute love song with the word "bubblegum" in its title that astutely references Barry White, Drake-style ambient R&B, and Sly Stone. The 20/20 Experience Review Follow. and might i say, great job for giving us a great album. Last month, one waggish journalist responded to the excitement surrounding Justin Timberlake's arrival in London by posting an old photo of the singer and his former paramour, Britney Spears, on Twitter. – you want to give Timbaland a bear hug. Pitchfork is the most trusted voice in music. The third solo release for the pop singer is his first in nearly seven years and was produced by Timbaland (two tracks with Timberlake and Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon). based on It's also too long and at times, exhausting to list...Basically music comes down to: do you like what you hear or not? Thank God for Spotify, didn’t have to waste money on this. Now, suddenly, Timberlake is back – and he’s sounding woollier than ever. The same can be said for the rest of The 20/20 Experience, which has Timberlake seamlessly conflating the last 40 years of pop, soul, and R&B into a series of warping seven-minute songs that shamelessly extol the joys of music and marriage. The rest of the record unspools that contented emotion-- presumably inspired by Timberlake's 2012 nuptials with actress Jessica Biel-- in various ways. The format that he sticks to is changing the way the song begins and creates a different song from the same tempo and instruments that he started out using. This pop star is at his best when leaving intricacies to the music, like the voyeuristic, slightly creepy feeling of all-encompassing infatuation that imbues the swarming "Tunnel Vision", or on "Mirrors", which conveys both the arena-flattening power and pillowtalk intimacy of finding solace in another person across its eight minutes. The majority of the songs go over 7 minutes. It's a bold soul that claims this kind of thing doesn't mar their enjoyment of The 20/20 Experience: it's definitely harder to concentrate on the rich inventiveness of the sound when there's a man comparing his wife's vagina to some bubblegum in a falsetto voice over the top of it. Timberlake's signing is on point, the writing is amazing, the sulky production is also fantastic. The 20/20 Experience may test the patience of fans expecting immediate gratification. Even more sassy is Let the Groove Get In – a salsa-driven earworm with a chanted chorus whose arrangements are sublime. Timberlake is reminding us that as quickly as music moves today, great style persists. Elsewhere, he ventures further afield: the astonishing Let the Groove Get In features an electronic approximation of a batucada rhythm, overlaid with ferocious afrobeat horns. Album Rating: 3.0Well, gwyn, that's great cause now we'll know that the staff aoty lists won't be full of crap. Ein Review von yannikk zum Album The 20/20 Experience (2013) von Justin Timberlake: Ich persönlich kann die oft negativen Kritiken zum Doppel-Album "The 20/20 Experience" nicht nachvol but what should we expect? nice review bro, hedberg is overrated i agree
It's an image worth bearing in mind while listening to The 20/20 Experience, not least its closing track, Blue Ocean Floor: seven and a half minutes of backward tapes, echoing piano figures, sub-bass, sound effects and hazy strings. It seems a stretch to believe it now, with committee-written club formulae dominating the pop charts there, here and everywhere, but on the cusp of the millennium the low-oxygen altitudes of the charts boasted backwards choruses. THE GOOD: I think Justin is trying to develop an entire album and not one that just has singles on it. nothing is as it seems in this voyage to the human heart. Quite unsexy, actually. Justin Timberlake is such a natural entertainer – such a charismatic and effortlessly appealing singer, dancer and showman – that it’s easy to ignore how weirdly, how willfully, he’s gone about his career.
The 20/20 Experience is the biggest pop event of 2013 so far, but it’s not quite a pop album. What does that mean? But it finds the two Tims going back to the future without so much as a sideways glance at the rave-pop fashion. But Timbaland's busy, nimble touch (and his "fricky fricky" ad-libs) also graced landmark hits by Jay-Z, Aaliyah and Justin Timberlake. We want to hear from you! His old partner Timbaland co-produced every track, along with Timberlake himself and Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon. It's not only about the return of a human being who can hold an entire stadium rapt for hours, but a producer who had seriously lost his way. All the songs are so different from each other and they are all so amazing.
